こんにちは、はじめまして。新人特許技術者です。
早いもので、外国部に入所してもう半年が経ちました。
業界未経験で、まだまだ不慣れな部分もたくさんあるのですが、こんな私をとても温かく迎え入れてくださった事務所の皆様に感謝申し上げます。毎日、様々な発見がたくさんで、楽しく業務と試験勉強に勤しむ日々です。
「今度はどんな会社に入ったの？」
転職を繰り返していたため、友人たちにはこんな風にやや揶揄気味に質問されることも多々あります。特許事務所だよと答えると大抵、言われた側の頭の上には？マークが浮かんでいます。
確かにニッチな世界ではあります。事業会社の研究部署に所属していたこともあったため、知財部と関わることも多かった私にとっては当初から割と馴染みのある世界でした。しかし、そうでない人にとってはそんなカテゴリーがあるんだ、そういう事務所があるんだと驚かれることも多いでしょう。
そんな、普段生きていてもなかなかお目にかかる機会が少ない分野で働いておりますが、意外にも世の中は「知財」に溢れていると気づかされます。私はゲームが好きなので、少し前に世界に誇る日本の某巨大ゲーム会社が、オンラインワールドRPGを提供するベンチャーのゲーム会社を特許侵害で訴えたニュースを見たときは、どんな特許だったのだろうと思わず調べてしまいました。
また、先日街を歩いていると不思議な形をした建築があって、後で意匠権取っているのかなと思い調べてみるともちろん取られていたり。大袈裟ですが、世界をより生きやすく、楽しくするためには知財の力が重要なのだと改めて思い起こされる日々です。
昨年三十路を迎え、同世代の友人たちの活躍ぶりには目を見張るばかりです。
「この間、自分が開発中の技術が特許化されたんだ」
「まだリリースは先だけど、自分がデザインした車の意匠権を取ったよ」
久しぶりに会ったとき、私が特許事務所で働き始めたと言うと嬉しそうな顔で報告してきます。
働いてお金を稼ぐのは決して楽ではないですが、そんな風に仕事で良かったエピソードとして知財関連のことを話してくれると、いち友人としてこちらも嬉しくなります。
今は、特許技術者として、（頑張って試験に受かって汗）のちに弁理士として友人たちに負けずしっかりと働いていけるように、精進していきます。
Hello, nice to meet you. I am a new patent engineer.
It's been about half a year since I joined the foreign affairs department.
I have no experience in this field and there are still many parts that I am unfamiliar with, but I would like to thank everyone at the office for welcoming me so warmly. Every day, I make many discoveries and enjoy my work and studying for exams.
"What kind of company are you joining next?"
Since I've changed jobs many times, my friends often ask me this question in a somewhat mocking way. When I answer that I work at a patent office, they usually have a question mark above their head.
It is certainly a niche field. Since I used to belong to the research department of a manufacturer, I often had contact with the intellectual property department, so it was a field that I was quite familiar with from the beginning. However, for those who are not familiar with it, they will often be surprised that there is such a category and that there is such an office.
I work in a field that is rarely seen in everyday life, but I realize that the world is surprisingly full of "intellectual property". I love games, so when I saw the news a while ago that a huge Japanese game company was suing a venture game company that offers an online world RPG for patent infringement, I couldn't help but look up what kind of patent it was.
Also, the other day while walking down the street, I saw a strangely shaped building, and I wondered if it had a design patent, and when I looked into it later, I found out that it did. It may sound exaggerated, but I am reminded every day that the power of intellectual property is important to make the world a more livable and enjoyable place.
I turned 30 last year, and I am amazed at the achievements of my friends of the same generation.
"The other day, the technology I was developing was patented."
"It's still a while before it's released, but I got the design rights for the car I designed."
When I met them for the first time in a while, they told me with a happy face that I had started working at a patent office.
It's not easy to earn money by working, but when they tell me about intellectual property-related stories like this as good stories from their work, it makes me happy as a friend.
Now, I will continue to work hard as a patent engineer (I will work hard to pass the exam) and later as a patent attorney so that I can work as hard as my friends.
