国際交流ボランティア(International exchange volunteers)

昨年11月はフィリピンでAPAAのミーティングが開かれ、当所のスタッフも参加致しました。同じ頃、友人にフィリピンの小学校でのイベントへの協力を依頼されました。内容は、日本文化の授業で使用する教材の英訳でした。当初は1度きりの予定でしたが、好評につき、その後も授業の枠が設けられ、今年３月まで続きました。
先日、授業の様子を収めた写真を見る機会がありました。教材から固い授業を想像していたので、大変生き生きとした授業風景に驚きました。授業は、日本家屋とフィリピンの教室をつないで行われていました。現地に行くことを断念したと聞いていましたが、日本の文化がよく伝わるように工夫されていて素晴らしいと思いました。生徒の方々の異文化に対する興味が見て取れ、画面越しでも自然で心温まる交流であったことが伝わってきました。
またこのような機会があれば、喜んで協力したいと思います。

Last November, APAA 2024 was held in the Philippines and our staff also attended the meeting. That time, a friend asked me to support an event of a primary school in the Philippines. They requested me to translate materials from Japanese to English. It was supposed to be a one-time event. The parents were very happy, and the school board decided to continue classes until last March.
Recently, I had an opportunity to see the pictures of the classes. I was surprised to see a very lively classroom since I had imagined a serious class from the material. The lesson was given remotely, connecting the Japanese-style home to the classroom in the Philippines. I heard my friend couldn’t go to the Philippines. However, I thought the online class was wonderful because it helped to understand the Japanese culture. I saw the students’ interests in a different culture in the picture. I also felt their natural and warm exchange despite the communication over the screen.
If I have a chance like this, I would love to cooperate again.
